This week i painted up my old 3rd edition Tyranid carnifex. I added a couple of the new claws from the current Carnifex and plan to run him as Old One Eye, the older model seemed more fitting.
I currently have many different colour Tyranids from various colour schemes i’ve tried out but i think i’m going to settle for Hivefleet Kraken, as this is a very simple scheme to paint and should help with painting lots of models quickly.
I’ve also been painting up more Ultramarine Primaris and even started on some of my custodes, though they are proceeding slowly as i don’t seem too enthusiastic to paint gold.
The Black Tempalrs are also still coming along and are very nearly done, just that land raider still to do and another bike!
Other than that has been a quite week for painting but with the next tail of warlords starting soon i need to decided which army to paint up! I’m looking between Imperial guard, Tzeentch daemons and the Custodes. The problem with the Custodes however will be their lack of options.
A bit of a quiet one this time; i played at The Mother Of Mercy at Warhammer World and as i’m between projects at the moment i’ve been mouldmaking!
That said i’ve got a few things to show you so…
I painted The Brothers Berzerk who arrived in the Model Box the other month; i really need to look at getting the starter set!
I also painted some miniatures for WArhammer Quest; i’ve made a set based around halfling sized miniatures
As we’re at half size, i’m using Snotlings as Goblins and here’s the Champion and Shaman
I’m hoping to play with Hamish Tuesday Night; he’s got the new version so thought it’d be interesting to show him the old version!
Finally i’ve managed to finish the Assassin Project
each of the assassin sculpts and a pair of Inquisitors ; next i’ve got to look at a nice scenic base for them all!
a few pictures for you but i’m well shy of my word count so i apologise; hopefully i’ll have some more to show next week!
as always, thanks for reading and Have Fun!
This week i decided to take a break from painting 40k (totally not just putting off painting a land raider…) and paint up the Orc warboss riding a piggie for my AoS Orcs.
He was fun to paint and i think the orcs in general will be too. Although the AoS painting isn’t until January, i really wanted to paint him up and seeing as I’ve build most of the starter box i still have plenty to do, as well as some extra stuff i bought for them. I’ll also be re painting and re building my Lizardmen along side the orcs like i’ve done with the Black Templars.
Also i need to come up with a name for him, as i want to do a mini story narrative for my war band. A story following it from start to hopefully a nice big army.
This month’s Model Box has arrived, themed around Justice
Not a bad box; we have received a Ben Affleck Batman (who doesn’t appear on Knight Models’ shop) which has some great detailing on him
We’ve also got some Frostgrave Soldiers which are typical of North Star; great detail and casting but really don’t interest me!
We also have a characterful sculpt from Foundry of Judge Dredd… i haven’t played the miniature game but do have a couple of judges now
We also have some Warcolours paints who i’ve not heard of (and a 10% discount code) so may give them a try
with a standard Batman being £17 this month we are well worth our value!
a good box this month, Dredd and Batman are going into the Paint Queue 🙂
many thanks for reading
A couple of weeks ago i picked up a 32mm dark elf figure sorceress which i decided to paint up and run as an inquisitor figure.
I also bought a 54mm Dark Elf figure but haven’t painted her up yet. I don’t really play inquisitor too much as i prefer those style games to have character progression but i do play the odd game now and then. I’ll most likely run them as Dark Eldar and pick up a few more 54mm dark elf figures if i can find some.
Haven’t decided on character names yet but for background of the two i have i’m going with mother daughter psykers (so they’re more Eldar who are rouge and dark than actual Dark Eldar, as they don’t really have psykers). They wander collecting souls for various dark reasons, but they only collect the souls of high ranking individuals. They acquire any knowledge they can that might be useful to them, then torture them to death, feeding on or sacrificing their souls for some nefarious reward. It’s a bit patchy but its work in progress!
Although i don’t play much inquisitor i do enjoy painting at the larger scales, i find it a bit easier and more rewarding when they’re finished. Unfortunately i don’t have much experience painting that scale either, so they don’t come out quite as good as they do in my head.
Welcome back. This week i’ve not actually got anything painted to show you but i’ve got plenty of assembling done
I’m still working on the Pop-Up Terrain, tackling the biggest set, the Viking Village
While hte huts are nice (and the sides fold up to allow minis inside) the main hall is far too big and has an absolute nightmare of a table to glue
that said, i need some half-sized sections, as demonstrated On Stream; Hamish’s table is a 2’x4′
We also managed to assemble the Fish Shack and the Shops;
Great little pieces with some real attention to detail (such as the cauldron in the Potion Shop)
I do need to start looking into weighing the floor sections down; only have The Engineworks to go before i get the Halfling sections printed…
As i’m inbetween projects at the moment i started the backlog by assembling some Sisters of Silence to join my Adeptus Sororitas…i’ve got a copy of Prospero coming so will boost a squad upto ten
as i’ve been iching to paint the Pilot Orc from the Model Box i began assembling my new GorkaMorka mob.. they maybe loosely inspired by a film francise…
alas they’ll be more identifiable once painted.
Talking of which, a long term project is close to completion…
i know i said no painted stuff this time but oh well…
Thanks for reading and Have Fun!
Short week again this week. I took a break from painting Templars and decided to paint some of the new Primaris Marines in the old Ultramarines colours. Like the captain I’ve done i much prefer the old school colour scheme.
If i’m happy with how the squad comes out i think i’ll do a proper force of them.
Also with the new Tyranid codex out this weekend i’ve been painting up some of my old Tyranids in to Hivefleet Kraken scheme. I also found my old third edition carnifex and plan on adding some claws to him to make him in to Old One Eye. Hopefully the bits will arrive this week and i can get him painted up for next week.
The scheme is quick to paint and although not as detailed as some of my other armies it looks good on the table which is what i normally aim for.
This week hasn’t been massively productive; we played D&D with Alhaus which was fun and focussed on terrain for Streaming With Hamish (i’m hoping for Malifaux tomorrow)
That said, i managed to finish the Pop-Up Forest and as noted; that was alot of cutting out of leaves…
it folds down rather well though so it’ll be interesting to play amongst (the Pop-Up stuff lacks big LoS blocking terrain…)
We followed up with one of my favourite peices, The Fort
The side panels aren’t glued and fold outwards when flat which is rather clever!
and as a final peice we assembled The Adventurers Depot with it’s cluttered shelves
i need a couple of half sections to bridge the gaps in the main hexes so will look at a couple more…
We did do some Toy Soldiers though, starting with a Halfling crew for Frostgrave; i’m hoping to try it out with Hamish
And to make things easier, i painted on their names onto the back
i’m still debating adding snow effects ot the bases but for now they’re playable
As a final thing, i’ve almost finished the Preacher Crew for Inquisitor
All converted from Josef as i had a literal half dozen knocking about!
am debating taking them to Mother Of Mercy in a fortnight for a change of pace or if i’ll stick to my usual Mechanicus crew…
as usual, thanks for reading and pop into the Stream tomorrow if you get chance 🙂
This week i finally managed to finish the Black Templars month 4 painting!
Took me a little longer than planned as i had quite a bit to paint to make up my points. It now sits at 98PL/1869pts. The tale of warlords paint long ends this month, but i am roughly a month behind so will most likely be painting in to December as well.
The emperors champion is still in the old paint job, but luckily he doesn’t stand out too much on the table so i decided i don’t want to risk stripping him and repainting him, so i just rebased him instead.
Next i will be painting a land raider crusader, another dreadnought and another attack bike to make the list 124PL. Once that is done the army will be complete!
At least, for the tale of warlords purpose. I want to also include a couple of terminator squads and some chaplains in to the army eventually.
With the release of the new Tyranids codex in the next few weeks i want to try and get a few more of my Tyranids army repainted too, so will be painting some of them alongside the final Black Templars. After that the paint along for age of Sigmar will be starting in January and i plan on doing both a Lizardmen and an orc army, so much painting still ahead!
